Yorkshire Evening Post Chip Shop Of The Year 2018 – Top 10
Our top 10 position was achieved by our loyal customers filling out voting forms in September 2018. Without your support we wouldn’t have achieved this – thank you!
‘Britain’s Best Chippy’
voted by Morrisons Magazine
In 2012 we won the title of Britain’s Best Chippy as nominated by Morrisons Magazine. Readers were invited to vote for their favourite fish and chips shop by filling out a form in the magazine. Croft Street Fisheries was nominated, and after a telephone interview and visits from mystery shoppers we were shortlisted and then won the title for 2012.
NFFF Quality Award Holders
Croft Street Fisheries hold the national NFFF Quality Award from the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF). The award was set up to find the best fish and chip shops in the UK that have high levels of customer service and product quality. The award recognises:
- The UK’s best tasting and best quality fish and chips
- Sustainably sourced fish
- Fresh produce, prepared safely
- Safe, clean and hygienic premises
- Well trained staff
- Top quality service
Croft Street Fisheries was the first shop in Leeds to gain this award back in 2011 and has held it ever since. Find out more about the NFFF Quality Award.
National Food Hygiene Rating
Croft Street Fisheries holds 5 out of 5 stars in the Food Hygiene Rating scheme run by Leeds City Council. This scheme replaces the old Scores on the Doors scheme.
During an inspection, an Environmental Health Officer appointed by the council visits food outlets to inspect the premises and focuses on the following:
- How food is handled, prepared and cooked
- The overall structure of the premises and the catering equipment, to ensure it is in good repair and working order
- Look at all our records to ensure we keep note of temperatures and cleaning rotas.
To find out more about the scheme visit the FSA website.
Nothing epitomises great Yorkshire food than fish, chips and of course curry sauce. And nowhere in Yorkshire surpasses Croft Street in Farsley.
